16–19 Bursary
The 16–19 Bursary Fund is available to support students at John Taylor Free School Post‑16 where financial assistance may be needed. We understand that there can be costs associated with continuing in education, and this fund is designed to help ensure that all students are able to access their learning, attend regularly and take part fully in school life.
Who is Eligible
Support may be available to students who need financial assistance to continue their education. This includes:
- Students who are in care or are care leavers
- Students receiving income or disability support
- Students from low‑income households (subject to assessment)
How Funding is Awarded
Applications are considered individually, taking into account each student’s circumstances and the number of applications received.
Support is provided to help students access and remain engaged in their education. The level of support may vary depending on need.
Bursary payments are linked to attendance and engagement. If attendance becomes a concern, funding may be reviewed.
What the bursary can be used for
The 16–19 Bursary Fund helps with costs that may otherwise make it difficult for students to take part fully in school life.
This may include:
- Clothing that meets the Post‑16 dress code
- Books and other equipment needed for courses
- Transport to and from school
- Meals during the school day
