In this blog, we reflect on how proud we are of our students and the outcomes they have achieved following their examinations. We are absolutely delighted with the performance of our founding cohort of Year 13 students, who have set the bar high for future years and have now moved on to the next phase of their lives. Our year 11 results also fill us with pride, and we are looking forward to seeing how they continue to succeed and thrive in our Post 16 over the next two years.

Year 13 Results Day 2025
John Taylor Free School is celebrating an excellent first set of A-level results.
The first ever students of the Tatenhill school, which opened in 2018, have reached the end of their journey with us and we are delighted with what they have achieved.
Headteacher Sue Atkinson said: โI am delighted to celebrate our first set of A Level and BTEC results today. They are a true reflection of the hard work the students have put in over the last two years. It certainly is a landmark moment for the school. I am really proud of them all. As our founding cohort, these students have been at the forefront of everything we have done as a school since we opened. Supporting this group of young people as they have matured into young adults has been an honour. They have made us, as a school, extremely proud and it is a privilege to have able to celebrate their success with them today. We hope that students will continue to rise to the challenges that life will face in the same way they have during their time with us at JTFS.โ
Among the many success stories for our students, there have been some exceptional results which we are delighted to share.
๐๐น๐น๐ถ๐ฒ achieved an impressive A*A*A with an additional A in her Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), which will see her study English Language and Literature at the University of York.
๐ฆ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ป๐ฎ should be proud of her A*A*A and will go to study Concept Art for Games and Film at the University of Staffordshire.
๐ข๐๐ฒ๐ป achieved A*A*AB, including an A* in Further Maths which is extremely impressive. He is intending to study Aeronautical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Leeds.
๐๐ฎ๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ achieved AAA with an additional A* in her EPQ. She is planning to complete an apprenticeship with Rolls Royce.
๐๐ต๐น๐ผ๐ฒ achieved AAAA and we are delighted that she has accepted a place to study Medicine at the University of Liverpool.
There are many others including ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐บ, ๐ง๐ผ๐บ, ๐๐ฒ๐๐ต๐ฎ๐ป๐, ๐๐ฟ๐ผ๐ป๐๐๐ป and ๐๐ฒ๐๐.
We are so proud of all of our students for their dedication and commitment to their studies and pleased that the grades are a reflection of their effort. Most of our students will be going on to their โfirst choiceโ courses at University, or Degree Apprenticeship. Some of our students have chosen to take a year to travel or work before they commence further study. We are delighted to see our students step out beyond JTFS and are equally proud of the broader development of the founding cohort. We have seen them grow into young adults, having been encouraged and challenged to be the very best versions of themselves, with a foundation of values that will stand them in great stead.
For our students, this marks the end of their journey with us and the start of their next chapter. We are proud to have been part of their success and wish them all the very best for the future.
GCSE Results Day 2025
GCSE results day has brought well-earned celebrations for students at John Taylor Free School.
John Taylor Free School is proud to celebrate a fantastic set of GCSE results from the Class of 2025. This year group faced a uniquely challenging start to their educational journey: having missed out on their Year 6 studies and SATs due to the pandemic, they began their secondary education remotely and navigated a turbulent transition into school life. Despite these obstacles, they have shown remarkable resilience and dedication โ and today, their hard work has paid off. This yearโs results are a powerful reflection of our school motto: โTurn up, work hard and be nice.โ
Headteacher Sue Atkinson said: โI am thrilled that the Class of 2025 has done so well โ Iโm incredibly proud of each and every one of them. As a year group, they maintained excellent attendance, committed fully to revision sessions, and showed maturity and focus throughout the exam season. Their achievements are a testament to that dedication.”
This year has seen both impressive individual accomplishments and significant improvements in overall school performance. Students from disadvantaged backgrounds have made exceptional progress, and those with English as an Additional Language have also achieved highly โ a reflection of their determination, the invaluable support of their families, and the high-quality teaching at JTFS.
โI would like to thank our dedicated staff for their unwavering support of our students,” continued Miss Atkinson. “Well done to everyone โ weโre pleased that so many are continuing their Post-16 education with us, and we wish all our students the very best for their next steps, wherever they may be.”
