Humanities
Why do people live where they do? What can the past teach us about the present? How do beliefs influence communities and cultures?
Humanities helps students explore these questions through Geography, History, Religious Studies and PSHCE. By examining people, places, events and ideas, students develop a deeper understanding of the world around them and the forces that continue to shape it.
Through the study of both contemporary and historical issues, students become more informed, reflective and confident in considering different viewpoints and perspectives.
Subjects within this Faculty
Geography
Volcanoes, rivers, climate change, migration and urban growth all help shape the world we live in. Geography explores these topics through the study of both physical and human environments, encouraging students to think critically about the challenges and opportunities facing communities around the globe.
History
History brings the past to life through the study of significant events, individuals and societies. By examining evidence and exploring different interpretations, students develop a deeper understanding of how past decisions, conflicts and achievements continue to influence the modern world.
Religious Studies
Religious Studies encourages students to explore some of life’s biggest questions. Through the study of religious and non-religious worldviews, students consider issues such as belief, morality, identity and meaning while developing respect for the perspectives and experiences of others.
PSHCE
Preparing for life beyond the classroom sits at the heart of PSHCE. Through topics including health and wellbeing, relationships, careers, citizenship and personal safety, students develop the knowledge, confidence and practical understanding needed to make informed decisions throughout their lives.
Key Stage 4 Revision Resources
Success in Humanities comes from understanding connections between people, places, beliefs and events. These resources support students in revisiting key knowledge, strengthening their analytical skills and preparing confidently for examinations.
