A month in post and what a month it has been! I was reflecting on everything that the Free School team has achieved in that time over the weekend. Our followers on social media now exceed 900, we have closed our applications for students, made offers to families and our staff recruitment event attracted over 400 people, all very excited to join the team.
This made me think about team work and the effort of so many people that has enabled the Free School to get to this point. People working for a shared endeavour; everyone passionate about creating something special for the benefit of the children and community around Tatenhill. Our curriculum will be based on the highly successful STRIPE curriculum (Self-manager, team player, reflective and resilient innovative, participator and enquirer). I think the team at JTFS have role modelled these skills brilliantly over the last few weeks. We could not have had a better response from families as they opened their offer letters and the excitement from prospective staff on Saturday was palpable. It really is a pleasure to see all the hard work coming together.
This is how we want the students to feel – when they have worked above and beyond to produce something that they are proud of, that demonstrates quality and persistence, they will feel that the effort was worth it, that the contribution of others will enhance their own performance and that team work is critical to the success of most projects! We could not have achieved what we have done over the last month without utilising these skills day in, day out. I feel very lucky to be part of such a great team and I hope you are looking forward to seeing how our plans develop further.
